My first Project Life Album!! Title Page and Week 1

Morning crafty peeps! I'm so excited to be doing a Project Life album this year!! I tried it last year but got really overwhelmed and I didn't even make it for a whole week!! lol I was too all or nothing about it last year. I got behind and wouldn't let myself create anything until I got caught up on it, and then I didn't want to do anything else!! This year I'm coming at it with a way more relaxed approach! I'm currently finished my title page and week one and I'm not worried that I'm a few weeks behind! Some weeks might not even get done, some might be combined with another week and I'm not worried about it! I'm also contemplating combining my OLW with my PL album. We'll see how that goes!

Here's my title page: I wanted to make a list of my personal goals for the year and my goals for our family this year.

I'm really loving the Studio Calico number wood veneers!

"The Good Life" is cut with the Paper Bakery exclusive cut files for this month. I LOVE them!! They come as an extra bonus each month with your kit! How cool is that?!

 Here's my week 1 layout:

I think tonight I'm going to try to get a little more caught up with my PL pages :) I'm really having fun planning this album!!

Scrap & Music Sketch 20!!

Hey Hey! It's time for another fabulous sketch from Scrap & Music!! This time the song we're playing along with is Ho Hey by The Lumineers. I really love this song! You can check out the lyrics on the Scrap & Music blog along with all the other fabulous DT member's interpretations of the sketch!

And speaking of sketch, here it is:

This is my take on the sketch:

I've been trying to scrap about myself these days and kind of turn my layouts into a little more of a journal.  The title of my layout is hard to read, but it's from the Ho Hey lyrics. It says: "I've been trying to do it right" I've added some hidden journaling in the vellum pocket about how I've been really trying hard to be a good mom and a good person and how I feel like I fall short (as I'm sure most of us feel a lot of times), but how I'm dedicated to trying my hardest to raise good boys with good morals.

I actually made this layout with the Scrapbook Nerd Olympic Crop in mind too! This layout was a part of one of my challenges over there to "Try a New Sport (or Technique)". There's still time to play along with us over there too!

I tried a new variation on a not new for me technique and I have to say I kinda love the way it turned out! I often mix Heidi Swapp's colour shine mists with Mod Podge and use them with my masks for a resist, but this time I thought I would mix the Mod Podge with her White mist and the Studio Calico mask. It didn't turn out how I envisioned it would. I wanted it to be more white, but after it dried it was kind of a cool clear shiny white, so I put the mask back on and then just sprayed the white over it to pop the white colour again. I have to say, I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I've been really into using my stamps these days too...I used the Hero Arts camera background stamp on the blue cardstock to make my own patterned paper of sorts, and then I stamped and cut out the Hero Arts skyline stamp too.

The polka dot flair was made with my epiphany crafts round tool and one of the Hey Kid 6x6 paper pad patterns. I love how you can make your own embellishments to match your projects with those awesome epiphany crafts tools!

All of the patterned paper I used is from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid 6x6 pad.

If you like what you saw on this layout and have to have it, you can get all of these products (except the Pink Fresh Studios washi) from Scrapbook Nerd. They ship so fast it's ALMOST as good as instant gratification!! lol!!

Well I really hope you play along with us this time at Scrap & Music! I will be back in the next couple of days with my first couple project life pages!! Stay tuned!

And don't forget to

Cropping with the Nerds!!

Good Afternoon my crafty peeps! I really hope you're playing along with us at Scrapbook Nerd this weekend for our online crop!! I was up until 2:30 am scrapping away last night! I got three layouts done though! (One I can't show you yet though!)

This first one was inspired by Joy's WInter Games challenge to make a layout about our families favourite winter games. Sledding is definitely our favourite!

And I made this layout based on my "Olympic Stash Raid" game: you guessed it, use up that stash! I have to admit I was quite impressed with my stash usage on this layout! I used old Prima and Basic Grey papers, some tags that I won and I can't even remember what brand they are, old MME alphabet, banner and die cut, and I dug into my button stash and used some of those too! The only things on here that I bought in 2013 are the camera veneer, the stamp and washi tape!

These pictures were actually taken last night! Chris thought he'd try out Ritz crackers with Nutella...it was delicious, but then it just got silly! It started because he put a cracker covered in Nutella on Ethan's face, then it just snowballed from there! We had quite a fun and messy time! lol I just new I had to scrap them! I have to say though it was really hard to put my own pic on there, because I reaaallly don't like it, but I want to make sure that down the road my kids remember me in the fun too! So, I sucked it up and put it in there! I almost thought I might have to do a 2 pager to get all of these on here, but I squeezed em into one! Phewf!! It's been so long since I made a double page layout that I honestly don't know how it would go!! lol

I do hope you come and play with us! We're having a lot of fun over there!! You have some time to finish the projects too!

Blessings

Scrapbook Nerd January Reveal!!

Good Morning all my lovely scrappy peeps!! I hope this morning finds you well!! Today it is my second son's 5th birthday!! I cannot believe it's already been 5 years since my sweet little Caleb was born!! It makes me feel excited that he's starting to grow into a new little era of his life, but also sad that he's growing up!

Yesterday was the day of my reveal over at Scrapbook Nerd of all the goodies they gave me to play with this month!! I just love that group of ladies! If you haven't already been over there to the Forum, you really should! They are so wonderful and it's a really great place to hang out! And you DEFINITELY need to go check out the store! It's FULL of FABULOUS products and anything they don't have, if they can get it for you, they will! They're quite AMAZING over there!

I was given products from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid line. I absolutely LOVE this product line! It's bright colours and patterns are so fun, and there was so much product I STILL have a lot of goodies left over, even after making 4 layouts (I still have one that I'm stashing away to show you later!) and 3 cards! The ephemera pack is LOADED with goodies!!

I also used the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Circles for this layout, and I've gotta say, it's quite awesome! It helps you poke out holes for stitching circles in no time! Love it!

Eeek! This layout was a first for me!! There is a lot of adorable little girl products in the Hey Kid line, and as you know, I am a mother of four amazing boys...none of which these very girly products would work for! So I borrowed a friend of mine's picture of her and her girls and made a layout for her! I can tell you that it's probably the first and the last time I will ever use this colour of pink cardstock!!  lol

This was a month full of firsts with my first 8.5x11 layout ever! I made this on Christmas day! I was too excited to scrapbook the first picture I took with my new Instax camera! It actually only took me about 20 minutes to make! I wanted to show off all the different patterns in the Hey Kid 6x6 pack, so I punched out a million different squares and cut them in half to make triangles then I glued them to my page and ran them through a sewing machine for some added interest! A messy layer of gesso and a fussy cut element from another one of the patterns of the 6x6 pad completed this layout super quickly!

UPDATE: I was just scanning my pinterest boards and I came across the layout that inspired this one!! Do you ever see layouts and think that you'd love to scraplift it, pin it, then forget if you did or where you saw it? That's what happened here! And the funniest thing is, I had pinned this layout, and just now realized that it was a layout made by a fellow DT member from the Paper Bakery!! You really do need to check out Gina's layout! It is FAR better than this one!! ;)

I also made a few cards:

The first one was my son's 8th birthday card. I am definitely feeling old now that I have an 8 year old and a 5 year old!!

This one was my sister in law's birthday card. (there's a looot of birthdays in the months of December and January in our family!) I found a sweet tutorial on Pinterest. Here's the link to the tutorial. It's using the We R Memory Keepers Evelope Board Punch. It's such a fun and easy technique and I absolutely LOVE the bows it makes! So much, I had to make another card!!

I didn't have any reason to make this card except that I really wanted to make another bow! lol

Don't forget to join us this weekend for the Olympic Crop at Scrapbook Nerd! It's going to be awesome!!

Blessings

Scraplift!

Good morning!

It's a great day for

Since Sarah went away to CHA, the Paper Bakery girls have been playing and challenging each other with a few fun challenges. I did manage to do all 6 of them, and I will show you more later this week, but for now, one of our challenges was to scraplift another member of the Paper Bakery team. I chose to scraplift the ever so talented Danielle (click on her name to check out her blog). Her layout is the one below:

And this is my scraplift. I used goodies from my Studio Calico kit that I literally bought because of the deer head stamp! lol I know...but I justified it! haha I used versamark and one of the other stamps in that set to stamp a watermark type image on the green background paper, then flicked a few different ink colours ontop because I'm kind of incapable of leaving cardstock bare! lol

In addition to my SC kit, I used some Thickers and Heidi Swapp mistable alphabet, and a die cut from Evalicious (loooove them!!) I also used some Kelley Purkey washi tape, and an Elle's Studio stamp.

I also used another stamp from an older SC kit (I love this stamp) and an MME date sticker.

I love that I'm starting to become a quick scrapper! This took me less than an hour and before It would have taken me hours to make this layout!! I guess that's a good thing since I have very little time for scrapping these days! I have to make the minutes count!!

Well, I'm off to shower and get ready to go for a walk! I'm trying to make sure I take time for exercise these days! I desperately need it! And the weather has actually been sunny! Thank GOD!! I have been trying to make sure to soak up the sun this winter as much as I can, because it's been so dreary here, which isn't the norm for Williams Lake. It's really been affecting my moods, which is NOT GOOD!! But I'm happy for the sun today, so I'm off to get outside and play in it!

Blessings
