Saying By to Lizzy

Hello my Crafty Peeps!!

I'm trying really hard to get back into blogging lately! I have been so busy that I haven't had a ton of time for scrapbooking, but I have decided to MAKE time because it's what I love to do! It's so important to do what you love! Lately I've been loving my Cameo!! I'm addicted to cutting my backgrounds and backing them with fun patterned papers!!

I got this cut file FREE from Paper Issues and I just had to use it as soon as it finished downloading!! They have a ton of free cut files, so it's definitely worth it to check them out!

I used my June Clique Kits Kit "Dream Quest" for this layout and ooooh my, do I ever LOVE this kit!! I have been going a little crazy with this kit! I love the fun Aztec designs and the gold foil! *sigh* it's truly amazing! Did I mention it's full of Crate Paper goodies?! Yep...that's why I love it! I've always had a soft spot for Crate Paper!

Here's the story behind these pictures: Recently we were out in Big Lake at my husband's parent's house. They live out in the boonies and it's great for the boys! They just love going out there and exploring and finding all kinds of fun stuff! Well this time they found a salamander, that they promptly named Lizzy, which kind of cracks me up! I love the way their mind's think!

They put him in a container with some wet sand and some holes and played with him most of the day, but when it was time to go home, I made the executive decision to make them let him go. Ethan (our oldest wanted to the whole time because he didn't think it was fair to "take him away from his family") Caleb and Kieran were a little more selfish...lol...they wanted so badly to keep him and have him as a pet. In the end, I said no and they tearfully said their goodbyes. It was heartbreaking! I'm not sure if you can see it in this picture of my layout, but Kieran's face has a big tear dripping down his cheek as he gives him one last pet!

I told them that I would create a layout for Lizzy to remember him by, so, here it is!

I wanted to keep the layout pretty clean and simple, to showcase the pictures, so I did a fun embellishment cluster beside each of the pictures and left it at that. I am in love with those puffy gold stars! I love how Clique Kits always has some exclusive flair badges in their kits that coordinate so perfectly! The "explore" one was just right for this layout!

I painted the wood veneer camera with a bit of yellow paint that came in the May Clique Kit and added an enamel dot to the center to make it pop.

The "have more adventures" phrase is from the gold foil cut apart paper from Crate Paper. I can't get enough of these!!

I really had a lot of fun with this layout! I love the XO cut file with those fun patterns backed behind them! The boys really liked that I documented Lizzy for them too!

I'm going to enter this into the challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges May Trend Challenge of Foil.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I promise you will be seeing more of me in the near future!

Blessings

Mother's Day Selfies

Hey there my Crafty Peeps!! I know what you're thinking...two posts in a row?! Holy! Maybe Sarah's back?! lol I sure hope so anyway! I've been so busy lately, but in a good way! I just haven't had a lot of time for scrapbooking, but I am making time these days because it's something I love to do and I think it's important to take time for you, so here I am! lol

I really wanted to scrapbook this picture from the Friday before Mother's Day. The boys' school did this amazing Photo Scavenger Hunt for Mother's Day! We had a list of 30 things and we had to do at least 21 of them. Now I didn't get all 21 done, but to be fair, I tried to take a pic of each of the boys and I doing each thing, so I think we took about 50 pics! It was such a great day, and I got my first sunburn of the year too! lol I didn't think it was time for sunscreen, but clearly it was!

I've had this cut file from The Cut Shoppe for a long time now, and I have been dying to use it, so last week, I finally cut it out and I'm so happy with the results!

I knew I wanted to back each of my circles with patterned paper, so after I cut out the original, I found a cut file that had a circle in it, ungrouped it and made my circle just under 2 inches. Then I duplicated it 36 times so I had a full cutting mat full of circles in my Silhouette Studio. Then I cut out 36 2 inch squares from the Shimelle paper pad and placed them all on my cutting mat. You need to make sure that you're using a sticky mat for this because the smaller the paper, the easier they seem to want to come off while cutting.

Once it was all cut out, I backed my cut file with them with some foam adhesive to give it some more dimension! It was definitely a labor of love, but totally worth it!

I also had this 'hello" that I had cut out a long time ago from another Cut Shoppe file and I thought it went perfectly with this layout.

I added some cute puffy stickers from Evalicious and one of the exclusive flair badges from a past Clique Kit's kit :)

I also added some enamel dots, and some mist too for another bit of dimension and interest. I have a Kal Barteski roller stamp with some really fun phrases in that awesome brush script that I thought I would break out and add on the kraft cardstock too. I love those roller stamps! They are so great for adding some visual interest in small places!

I'm not sure where I got this arrow acetate paper from, but it's been sitting in my stash taunting me to use it for a while now, so I'm happy to report that it's sitting nicely under my photo here for another fun layer!

I have so many awesome pictures from this day and I can't wait to get them scrapped!

I'm going to enter this into the Cut Shoppe's May Cut it Out Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Pep Rally with Clique Kits!!

Good Morning Everyone! It's time for another Pep Rally!! I look forward to these every month! I just love that Clique Kits hosts a blog hop for their members to share their projects! (They have some pretty talented subscribers too!)

Our challenge this month is ANYTHING GOES!!

I haven't had a lot of time for crafting lately, sadly, but I did manage to get this layout done of Kieran's 4th birthday...and he just turned 5, so I'm not too dreadfully behind!!

I'm in love with the fun bright colours and quirky patterns in this kit! The watercolor effects in the Amy Tangerine line is beautiful and I love the exclusive journaling cards that just go perfectly with this line too!

I have to admit that I was not a fan of pineapples as a scrapbooking trend, but this gorgeous stamp from Hero Arts (which is part of the add ons for this month), has converted me!! I want to put this pineapple stamp on EVERYTHING!!  I embossed this one with some bright pink embossing powder and fussy cut it to add it to my page.

The embellishments that are scattered from my title to the photo are from my stash...I desperately need to put a dent in it!!

Every month I'm excited to see the Exclusive flair from Clique Kits, and this month has definitely NOT disappointed!! I absolutely LOVE the fun watercolor flair this month!!

Well that's all for today!! Your next stop on the hop is my very talented friend Janet Zeppa!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! (Don't forget to leave some love along the way!! One lucky commenter will win a May Kit!! And yes, they are sold out!!)
